Over the last month the HR Transformation Team have been deep in planning activity and, whilst we’ve kept in contact with many of you, the last few weeks have been relatively quiet on the communications front.
We’ve got a lot going on between now and the end of 2017, and I thought it would be helpful to share a few of those activities and events with you here.
First, we’re running a series of ‘Process’ workshops from late August until early November so that we can review, test and finalise the shape of HR processes to come.
We’re asking colleagues to commit to both ‘cycles’ of these workshops so that they can discuss content with colleagues, and return to the following cycle with feedback.
An email inviting colleagues to come along to workshops came out on 28th July, and almost all workshops are now fully booked. If you’re interested in taking part and you’ve found a session is full, please add your name to the waiting list – if space becomes available we’ll let you know.
You can book onto workshops here in MyED.
Service Excellence Programme roadshows
We’re now inviting everyone to attend one of our Service Excellence Programme roadshows, which kick-off on Thursday September 7th and Friday September 8th at the King’s Buildings and George Square, respectively, followed by a third event on Thursday 14th September at The Vet at Easter Bush.
These are now open for bookings and we expect to announce further roadshow dates soon.
Our ‘People’ workshops will follow in November and December to build on the approved Operating Model principles, develop the proposed structure of HR in the University, and define the roles, responsibilities and reporting lines for staff who are delivering HR services.
An overview of the next phase of work is outlined on our website here.
We also have a number of projects on the go, including:
- HR Systems Information Gathering/General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) preparation – to ensure we meet the GDPR compliance deadline in May 2018. (Further Details Here)
- File Digitisation – to deliver a single source of employee information from employee files currently held in a variety of locations across Schools, Departments and Colleges, and Support Groups. (Further Details Here)
- Core Systems procurement – for the procurement and implementation of the new HR, Payroll, Finance and Procurement system (software as a service). (Further Details Here) . A short video on this programme form Gavin McLachlan (Chief Information Officer) can be found here
You can submit questions directly to the HR Transformation Team on any of the key issues relating to the project by contacting Martyn.Peggie@ed.ac.uk in the first instance.
